What happens when I sign up for THS VIRTUAL IronMay?
You'll receive an email confirming your participation registration. Contact [email protected] with any questions related to completing your participation waiver.
Do you have any suggestions for how I should complete the minimum challenge distances?
We sure do! Our Sports Medicine club students created a mix-and-match calendar of suggested event leg distances to help you plan for and finish the minimum requirements. If you're new to exercise or have never used intensity to gauge the effectiveness of your workouts, our training plan includes suggested intensities to guide you toward improving your fitness during IronMay! Remember that these are just a suggestion and not the only way to complete the minimum distances - Feel free to move workouts around to days that fit your schedule.
What do I get for participating in THS VIRTUAL IronMay?
Participants who record distances at least once during the event will receive an IronMay T-shirt & Sports Medicine SWAG following the conclusion of the event on June 2, 2021. Follow us on Instagram @thsironmay to be featured and for info about how to pick up your participation SWAG!
What happens if I complete more than the minimum distances?
You could earn our coveted TrailBlazer awards for completing the highest distance percentage above the minimum distance! Awards will go to Individual and Team finishers in each category (Student, Staff, and Community/Alumni) for each distance (Triathlon, Duathlon, and DriTri).
What are the TrailBlazer awards and how do I get one?
You'll receive a customized hoodie with the 2021 THS IronMay logo and participation division (Team or Individual) and challenge title (IronMay Triathlon, Duathlon, or DriTri TrailBlazer) to wear for everyone to marvel at your accomplishment!
When and where can I start logging miles?
Any mileage submitted between May 1-31, 2021 will count toward your individual or team total. We suggest you bookmark the page at the top for "Distance Submissions" - you'll be visiting this a lot during IronMay.
How are team member distances calculated?
Unlike a traditional relay, team members are not required to participate in all event legs, and more than one team member may submit distances in an event leg. Logging even just one mile will count toward your teams' total challenge distance.
How can you ensure fair participation in a virtual event?
We understand that the opportunity exists for someone to take advantage of our free, fun event. On behalf of those who aim to participate fairly in order to earn our incentive, and those who have volunteered their time to make this event accessible for all, including our Sports Medicine club students who show up before school to plan, organize, and execute the logistics of THS IronMay, we ask that for verification ranking, you take a screenshot immediately post-workout (i.e. bike computer, fitness watch, Apple Health app data, treadmill screen, heart rate monitor, rowing machine screen, digitally synced fitness platforms such as Strava, MyfitnessPal, Orangetheory Fitness app, Garmin, etc.) and upload with your distance submission.
What if I forget to upload my screenshot for ranking verification?
We'll contact you immediately if we find an error in your distance submissions and will allow up to two (2) non-verified distances to count toward your total. Beyond that, we cannot accept unverified distances to count toward rankings.
Are there any other incentives for me to participate?
